The Dawson Horror Studies Collective (DHSC) is a scholarly collective made up of faculty from Dawson College in Montreal, Quebec, whose teaching and research involve horror in all its forms.

"Deep Cuts" is a series of screenings and discussions held at Dawson College each semester starting in the spring of 2022. The goal of this series is to bring students and faculty together from across the disciplines to build a scholarly community around discussions of horror and related media. Deep Cuts events are also open to the public.

​Wednesday, 30 March, 12pm to 3pm in the Dawson Theatre
  • The inaugural DEEP CUTS screening event features a screening of Blood Quantum, followed by a Q&A and discussion with writer-director Jeff Barnaby. Co-sponsored by the Certificate for Decolonization and Indigenization Studies at Dawson, and presented as part of Indigenous Peoples' Week.​
​Fall 2022 (stay tuned for specific date and time)
  • The second DEEP CUTS screening event will mark 40 years since the release of John Carpenter’s The Thing (1982) with opening remarks by Jay Shea and Kristopher Woofter, followed by a screening and discussion of the film.
